What To Expect

Location

People from around the world come to Estes Park, Colorado, to enjoy world-class hiking, climbing, fishing, sightseeing, wildlife watching, galleries, and unique shopping. With Rocky Mountain National Park out the back door, there’s something in Estes Park for everyone.

Special events at Estes Park and free outdoor entertainment all summer are set amidst the backdrop of Rocky Mountain National Park. Hear folk musicians entertain, listen to a string quartet perform, or tap your toes to a big band playing favorites. Special events each year begin with Jazz Fest held each May.

The YMCA of the Rockies is located adjacent to the Rocky Mountain National Park on the western edge of Estes Park. The camp is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and has hundreds of miles of trails you can tackle alone or with friends.

The Estes Park Center is located just outside Estes Park, at an elevation of 8,010 feet. Snow Mountain Ranch is located 80 miles west of Denver at an elevation of 8,750 feet. The views are amazing and the air refreshes mind, body and spirit.

Transportation

While having access to your own vehicle at Colorado LT is a plus, it is not necessary. With your housing, jobs, and program activities all happening at the YMCA of the Rockies, driving is not generally necessary.

Housing

Because everyone attending the Colorado Leadership Training Program is required to work for the YMCA of the Rockies, all participants will be living in housing supplied by the YMCA. These facilities are generally dorm-like units, housing 2 people per room.

Guidelines

As a missions training program, Leadership Training participants are expected to uphold the following:

• All participants are expected to be a good testimony for Christ all summer on the job, in our housing, during free time and at program events.
• Full participation in all LT events is required.
